Wyoming was ranked as the state with the worst drivers while West Virginia was observed to have the best drivers, according to Quotewizard's "Best and Worst Drivers by State" report.
Other states ranked as having the best drivers include Missouri, Michigan, New Mexico, and Texas. Meanwhile, after Wyoming, other states ranking among the top five worst places to drive include Virginia, Colorado, New Jersey, and South Dakota.
The report analyzes more than 2 million insurance quotes from QuoteWizard drivers to see which states had the best and worst drivers. To get rankings, QuoteWizard built a composite score between four driving incident factors:
Accidents
Speeding tickets
DUIs
Citations
States considered having the worst drivers had the highest rates of each incident factor. States considered having the best drivers had the lowest rates of each incident factor.
The study also observed which states ranked the worst, individually, for each of the incident factors.
