April Diesel Trends Update
This week, the average price of diesel fuel decreased nationally and in all five regions. Overall, the national average is 46 cents lower than a year ago.

According to the most recent report by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the national average cost of diesel fuel decreased this week, and all five regions also reported lower average prices.
The national average price of diesel fuel in the U.S. per gallon decreased by 2 cents as of April 29, 2025. The average price of $3.51 is 43 cents cheaper than at the same time last year.
This week, regional average prices decreased in all five regions.
The decreases ranged from just less than 1 cent in the Rocky Mountain region to nearly 3 cents in the East Coast region. All regions’ averages are lower than the same time a year ago.
The most expensive place to buy diesel is Hawaii, at $5.28 per gallon, and the least costly is Texas, at $3.06 per gallon.

In the fifth week of April, average diesel prices reported by region, as of April 29, were:
East Coast: $3.58
Midwest: $3.45
Gulf Coast: $3.18
Rocky Mountain: $3.47
West Coast: $4.22
Regional Diesel Prices: 4th Week of April
This week, the average diesel price decreased nationally by more than 4 cents, and price averages also decreased in all five regions.
