We rise by lifting others. This Black History Month, explore stories of resilience, innovation, and progress in fleet. Watch, learn, and be inspired.
Editor's Note: Last year, during Black History Month, Work Truck partnered with the Black Fleet Network to spotlight voices, stories, and leadership shaping the fleet industry in real time. A year later, those conversations still hold up. Honestly, they might matter even more now.
This series was never about checking a box or marking a moment on the calendar. It was about listening to people doing the work, navigating challenges, building community, and pushing fleet forward in practical, meaningful ways. That kind of insight doesn’t expire.
As we revisit these videos and interviews, what stands out is how familiar the themes feel. Leadership under pressure. Creating opportunity where it didn’t exist before. Turning obstacles into momentum. Looking ahead while staying grounded in real-world experience.
That’s why we’re resurfacing this content for Black History Month again. Not as a rewind, but as a reminder. Progress is ongoing. Representation matters. And the best ideas often come from conversations we’re willing to revisit, sit with, and learn from again.
I invite you to watch, reflect, and share. These stories are worth another look.
Lifting Eachother Up Every Day
This Black History Month, and every month, I’m proud to spotlight the voices, stories, and insights that continue to shape and elevate our industry. Work Truck and the Black Fleet Network have come together to bring you a powerful four-part video series, packed with real-world experiences, groundbreaking ideas, and strategies that are moving fleet management forward.
These aren’t just conversations; they’re reminders that progress happens when we listen, learn, and uplift one another. If you’ve ever wondered how everyday challenges are turning into groundbreaking opportunities, this series is a must-watch. But we didn’t stop there.
This month, we’re also featuring a thought-provoking interview on strategy and resilience and a compelling story of triumph through adversity, both of which drive home the power of perseverance, innovation, and forward-thinking leadership.

Mastering Fleet Strategy: A Chess Player’s Mindset
If you’ve ever thought fleet management is like a game of chess, you’re not alone. In the latest Faces of Fleet interview, Jason Rascoe of Rose Pest Solutions shares how thinking several moves ahead is key to staying ahead. He discusses the importance of anticipating challenges, making calculated decisions, and building a proactive strategy that ensures long-term success.
It’s a must-watch for any fleet professional looking to "strategize" their approach.
Turning Adversity into Opportunity: The J3 Management Group Story
For those who prefer a written deep dive, the journey of J3 Management Group is one that can’t be ignored. Their story of turning tragedy into triumph redefines what’s possible in the fleet industry. As they put it, “Resilience turns every ‘no’ into opportunity.”
This isn’t just about bouncing back: it’s about rising higher, breaking barriers, and setting new industry standards. If you’re looking for a story of strength, perseverance, and reinvention, this is it.
Driving Change in Trucking
Representation matters, and progress doesn’t happen without action. In the latest Truck Chat interview, we cross Black History Month and Women's History Month. Nicole Ward and Tasha Springs from the African American Women Trucking Association (AAWTA) share how they’re working to increase opportunities for African-American women in trucking.
The driver shortage is opening doors, but financial barriers, industry perceptions, and limited resources still create roadblocks. That’s where AAWTA steps in: providing education, advocacy, and a strong community to help women enter and thrive in the industry.
As Nicole and Tasha put it, achieving true inclusion takes all of us. It’s not just about numbers, it’s about ensuring everyone has the tools and opportunities to succeed.
Moving Forward, Together
I know emotions are running high right now, and it’s easy to get caught up in the noise. But at the end of the day, the one thing we can all do, no matter where we stand, is choose to be kind. To listen. To recognize that diversity in people, experiences, and perspectives isn’t something that divides us, it’s what fuels real progress.
Including diverse voices in our industry doesn’t exclude anyone. It lifts us all. When we take the time to learn from different journeys, we strengthen not just fleet but our entire community.
So, I invite you to watch these videos, read these stories, and be inspired. Let’s continue to support, uplift, and create space for every voice that helps shape the future of fleet.
