Buyers Products Company has launched its first Spanish Language Learning (SLL) program for employees, created in partnership with HOLA Ohio, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering Latino and immigrant communities through education, civic engagement, and leadership development.
HOLA Ohio currently offers free English Language Learning (ELL) classes for adults in the community. Building on that effort, Buyers Products developed its Spanish Language Learning program as a natural complement, designed to meet the needs of employees from diverse backgrounds and strengthen communication between English- and Spanish-speaking team members.
Buyers said the new initiative reflects its commitment to creating a workplace where every employee can grow and succeed in a manufacturing career, regardless of their primary language. By helping English-speaking employees, including supervisors and managers, learn conversational Spanish, the program aims to improve communication, strengthen teamwork, and foster a more inclusive and productive environment.
“Clear communication is essential for a safe, collaborative workplace,” said Eliseiana Soto, human resources representative at Buyers Products. “By learning Spanish, our team leaders and coworkers can better connect with one another, ensure everyone’s voice is heard, and support career growth for all.”
Free 8-Week Course for Employees
The free, eight-week pilot course, taught by HOLA Ohio instructors, gave nearly 30 employees the opportunity to develop practical, conversational Spanish skills for use both on the job and in everyday life. Participants described the program as engaging and empowering, with many expressing interest in continuing their studies.
“We’re proud to partner with Buyers on a program that breaks down language barriers and builds bridges,” said Veronica Isabel Dahlberg, executive director of HOLA Ohio. “Together, we’re strengthening workplaces, families, and our community.”
