Samsara's latest State of Connected Operations Report indicates that most leaders consider AI a competitive advantage and are already seeing positive returns on investment in terms of safety and productivity.
The report states that more than half of the leaders surveyed (51%) are utilizing AI, and 87% intend to increase their AI investments in the coming year.
Fleet Operations Embracing Artificial Intelligence
Samsara's report, titled "Smarter, Faster, Safer: The AI Revolution in Physical Operations," provides insights into how organizations driving more than 40% of the global GDP leverage AI to enhance safety, maximize efficiency, and empower their employees.
All organizations using AI have reported various benefits, including improved safety (45%) and increased employee productivity (42%). Furthermore, 90% of those already using AI stated that their employees view it positively.
Additionally, 58% of organizations either utilize AI or plan to do so in the next 1-2 years, implementing privacy and data protection measures.
Based on perspectives from over 1,500 physical operations leaders across seven countries, the report reveals that 94% of operations leaders believe that their organizations need to invest in AI technology solutions to remain competitive in the current environment.
"AI is everywhere, and physical operations leaders are quickly embracing it," said Evan Welbourne, Head of AI and Data at Samsara. "When used strategically, advances in AI can bring meaningful change to the companies that power our global economy. For example, it can reduce costs, boost efficiency, and even save workers' lives in the field."
Prioritizing Security and Data Privacy in AI Adoption
The report highlights the importance of security and data privacy:
Of the organizations currently using AI or planning to do so in the next 1-2 years, 58% focus on implementing privacy and data protection measures.
Also, for the 63% of organizations planning to adopt AI solutions created by external technology partners, security and privacy compliance is a top priority, with 51% of leaders emphasizing its significance.
Today, there is a need for a trustworthy technology partner with a proven track record in responsible innovation and a deep understanding of the organization's business and challenges.
As fleet managers, it's crucial to recognize the potential benefits of AI and consider how it can strategically impact cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and employee well-being in your operations.
