Heading into the last week of June and the first official week of summer, national average retail diesel fuel prices continued their decline once again after a minor spike increased prices the first time in several weeks. Current national average diesel prices are $3.80 per gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

This represents a 2 cent decrease over the previous week, but still is down $1.98 compared to same time last year. This is holding steady with the EIA forecast earlier this year for retail diesel prices to decline in 2023 and 2024.

The second week of June 2023 saw the continued drop in diesel prices in most regions, with two of the coastal regions (East Coast and Gulf Coast) seeing a slight uptick.

The first week of June, average diesel prices as of June 12, by region were:

  • Gulf Coast: $3.49

  • Rocky Mountain: $4.01
