Chevin Fleet Solutions announced that company founder Ashley Sowerby is moving to a new role of Executive Chairman, passing on the CEO role to Gary Thompson, current Chevin COO.
Thompson joined the business in March 2022 as chief operating officer. Prior to joining Chevin, he enjoyed a notable career in a variety of leadership and owner managed positions, including COO of a successful global SaaS company.
Chevin Fleet Solutions was established in 1990 in Belper, UK and now is used in more than 180 countries to manage more than 1-million vehicles and associated assets.
“It has been a privilege to work alongside Ashley and I am looking forward to continuing the work with our talented, passionate and innovative team. We are in a strong position to meet the challenges and opportunities in this industry, using technology to drive high value insights and an exceptional customer experience,” Thompson shared.
Talking of his new role as Executive Chairman, Sowerby said: “It is important to further empower the Operational Board as they drive the business forward. This change enables me to step back from day-to-day operations whilst continuing to offer support on strategic decisions and product direction.”
Reflecting on the change, Sowerby said: “Following 32 wonderful years as Founder and CEO of Chevin, I am proud to have built a world-class business providing solutions to some of the largest fleets globally, having started from very humble domestic UK operations. Over recent years I have assembled a very capable team and Operational Board, who have laid very strong foundations for further growth, through investment in people, process and product.”
“I am honored to take on the role of CEO at Chevin, the business that Ashley created and built into the leading fleet software provider globally. Ashley has built a financially strong company with an excellent operational board, and I am confident that the foundations and strategy are in place to drive further innovation, growth and customer value," Thompson concluded.
