The leading cause of work-related deaths in the U.S. is vehicle crashes, and the National Safety Council estimates that one-fourth of all crashes involve cell phones.
Research indicates that drivers using handheld or hands-free cell phones are four times more likely to get in a crash, according to NSC. That’s why implementing and enforcing a comprehensive fleet policy for driver cell phone use is so important.
According to NSC, the best cell phone policies cover all employees, all handheld and hands-free devices, all company or agency vehicles, all company or agency mobile phone devices, and all work-related communications – even in personal vehicles or on personal cell phones.
