OTTAWA – For nearly a decade, StarTrak has been a TransCore GlobalWave value-added reseller, and has integrated the GlobalWave satellite modem into
StarTrak’s refrigerated carrier product known as ReeferTrak. To expand
market accessibility and leverage TransCore’s channels to market, TransCore
will add StarTrak’s ReeferTrak RT-6000 to the portfolio of satellite
communication products it offers to North American carriers. Customers will
access the full ReeferTrak service directly through StarTrak’s wireless
network.
Refrigerated
freight accounts for approximately $5 billion worth of products transported
each year. The temperature sensitive nature of the freight requires specialty
equipment, and the failure to maintain a certain temperature could cost tens of
thousands in losses. Using satellite-based trailer tracking and sensor
technology allows a company to remotely monitor its freight, setting alarms
when trailer temperatures deviate from set thresholds and quickly avoid a
crisis.
StarTrak’s
new RT-6000 product provides refrigeration management features for trailers,
trucks, railcars, and containers, including reefer status, temperature
compliance, remote control, tractor identification, and precision fuel
information. Communications are powered by TransCore’s GlobalWave satellite
communications network and features TransCore’s core modem that provides fast
response, onboard GPS location data, and reliable/secure communications throughout
North and Central America.
The
RT-6000 product is compatible with and certified for every configuration of
transport refrigeration unit made by all leading reefer manufacturers and
interfaces with StarTrak’s RAMP Service (Refrigerated-Asset Management
Platform), which provides users with full visibility, control, and alarm
features. The RT-6000 comes complete with brackets and cables for quick easy
installation. Other benefits include: pre-scheduled or on demand position
reports, geo-fencing, and over-the-air configuration control to enable or change
features.
