SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA -As the second largest supplier of roadway construction traffic control and protection services, RoadSafe Traffic has enhanced their commitment to safety by implementing mobile resource management technologies from Fleet Management Solutions, Inc. (FMS) across their fleet of 700 vehicles.

More than 500 vehicles have been equipped so far and the value is already evident with complete return on investment expected in less than one year.

Key objectives for the project are fuel conservation and labor management. "One of the biggest contributors to fuel savings is reduced vehicle idle time which is down about 50 percent," stated RoadSafe Traffic COO Kathleen Holst, "FMS enabled us to enforce our speeding policy and with detection of unauthorized use we are improving productivity and reducing vehicle miles traveled."

Misappropriated overtime has also been eliminated by use of FMS Fleet Central and the Message Display Terminal located in vehicles. Drivers enter their activity codes producing an electronic time card. "The drivers are very comfortable with this approach, it is easy to use and saves time collecting data," said Holst, "there is much less chance of human error and it saves paper; we want to be as green as possible!"

RoadSafe Traffic operations employees are thoroughly trained and certified by the American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), bringing the highest level of expertise to the work zone.  Combining this training with the latest technologies puts RoadSafe Traffic in a great position to win new bids and efficiently carry out contracts.

"Fleet Management Solutions is very pleased that RoadSafe Traffic has chosen to partner with FMS," said Cliff Henley, FMS CEO, "with the increasing Federal investment in America's infrastructure, we both anticipate this to be a long and fruitful relationship."
