Volvo Trucks North America, Chrysler, Daimler Trucks North America, and General Motors recently announced vehicle recalls, featuring Chrysler recalling more than 1.2 million 2019-2022 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks.
Volvo Trucks announced it is recalling approximately 412 2022-2023 VNL vehicles. The air tank bracket fasteners were excessively tightened and may have broken. Dealers will replace the fasteners, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on December 21, 2022.
Chrysler announced it is recalling approximately 1,234,657 2019-2022 Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickup trucks. The tailgate may not latch properly due to misaligned tailgate strikers, which could result in the tailgate opening while driving. Dealers will inspect the tailgate striker alignment to the box latch and adjust, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 27, 2023.
DTNA announced a pair of recalls. First, the company is recalling approximately 23 2021-2022 MT50e electric walk-in vans that were previously repaired under recall number 22V-340. The transmission gear shifter indicator may not display accurately. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence/Starter Interlock/Transmission Braking Effect." Dealers will inspect and repair the gear shifter, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 6, 2023.
Additionally, DTNA is recalling approximately 49 2020-2023 Freightliner 114SD, 2023 Freightliner 122SD, 2020 Western Star 4700, 2019-2022 Western Star 4900, 2019-2023 Freightliner Business Class M2, and 2021 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles. The vehicles are equipped with tires that are not compatible with their 8.25-inch rims. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars." Dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 13, 2023.
GM announced it is recalling approximately 740,108 2020-2023 Cadillac CT4 and CT5; 2021-2023 Buick Envision; and 2022-2023 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. The daytime running lights (DRLs) may not deactivate when the headlights are on. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." The body control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on January 23, 2023.
