Nissan North America is recalling 1,554 2016 model-year V-6 Frontier pickup trucks so dealers can address a fire risk tied to the starter motor wire harness, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.
The recall covers trucks manufactured from Feb. 29 to March 7 of this year.
In these trucks, the starter motor wire harness may have been installed in the wrong position. As a result, the starter harness terminal might contact the heat shield and create an electrical short that increases the risk of fire, according to NHTSA.
Nissan dealers will inspect and reposition the starter motor wire harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin this month.
