NexTraq Launches Comprehensive Fleet Safety Solution
NexTraq has launched its complete fleet safety solution including its award-winning distracted driving solution, NexTraq DriveGuard, its Online Driver Education courses and its new Driver Safety Scorecard Report.
NexTraq, the leading GPS fleet tracking and asset management company, announced the launch of its complete fleet safety solution including its award-winning distracted driving solution, NexTraq DriveGuard, its Online Driver Education courses and its new Driver Safety Scorecard Report.
In light of the increasing number of accidents caused by distracted driving and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s ban on cellphone use in commercial motor vehicles, the NexTraq DriveGuard solution uses a unique Bluetooth Trigger Unit coupled with a mobile application on a driver’s cellphone to help eliminate a driver’s temptation to call, email, text or surf the web while driving.
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, the average crash costs an employer $16,500. When a worker has an on-the-job crash that results in an injury, the cost to their employer is $74,000. Costs can exceed $500,000 when a fatality is involved. An accident can have negative effects on a business’s reputation, increase insurance premiums, cause expensive vehicle repair or replacement costs and potential litigation fees.
Taking a proactive approach to this issue, NexTraq offers its Online Driver Education courses for service and distribution businesses to address driver education and fleet driver safety issues. The online, self-paced classes include courses on aggressive and distracted driving as well as other fleet driver safety topics.
"In this challenging economy, companies must address barriers to profitability in order to survive. NexTraq’s Driver Safety solution is a good step in managing this risk effectively to overcome such obstacles," said Michael Nischan, a Risk Control and Safety Consultant for The McCart Group, a risk management and insurance brokerage in Atlanta. "The product is robust and unlike anything else available on the market."
According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, 1/3 of fatalities are speed-related. With this in mind, NexTraq’s Fleet Safety Solution includes Speed Alerts and Posted Speed Alerts as well as the Driver Safety Scorecard Report. This report is built from data obtained from accelerometers built into the hardware devices to identify aggressive driving behaviors such as speeding, harsh braking, harsh acceleration and sudden cornering.
Mike Scarbrough, the CEO of NexTraq said, “The wellbeing of drivers and the protection of expensive assets, including company vehicles, is crucial to the success of service and distribution companies. Our safety solution enables our clients to prevent expensive accidents and claims as well as educate drivers on the ramifications of distracted and aggressive driving.”
