Nestle Waters Showcases Hybrid Truck at Capitol Hill Event

WASHINGTON– Nestle Waters North America displayed one of its diesel-electric hybrid (DEH) delivery trucks June 11 at the first "Hybrid on the Hill" event in Washington, D.C., coordinated by CALSTART and its Hybrid Truck Users Forum (HTUF). Hybrid technology for medium- and heavy-duty trucks was showcased, with a reported total of 17 trucks on display.
Since November 2008, Nestle Waters North America's Home & Office division has operated four DEH delivery trucks. The DEH vehicles are expected to deliver a 25-percent improvement in fuel economy. Eight additional hybrid trucks will be deployed by the end of this summer, according to the company.
"Our DEH trucks are one way we are trying to reduce our environmental impact, while continuing to provide healthful beverages," said Jeffery Bush, national fleet purchasing manager for Nestle Waters North America in a company statement.
In its 2008 Corporate Citizenship report, the company stated its goal to introduce a zero-emission delivery vehicle by 2015, and upgrade 25 percent of all of its vehicles to zero-emissions by 2020.
