Hino Trucks’ Class 5 195h and 195h-DC diesel electric cab-over has been
approved by the New York Truck – Voucher Incentive Program (NYT-VIP).
The NYT-VIP is an important partnership between the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT), New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT), and CALSTART.
What is available is $19 million "first come – first served" incentive funding that aims to accelerate the deployment of alternative-fuel vehicles and diesel emission control devices for medium- to heavy-duty commercial
fleets in New York.
By promoting the use of advanced vehicle technologies, NYT-VIP will help reduce diesel emissions and promote a more fuel independent New York.
“New York customers are already seeing the benefits of our 195h diesel electric COE vehicles realizing up to 30-percent fuel savings over diesel-only products in well matched conditions,” said Glenn Ellis, Hino Trucks Vice President of Marketing. He added, “By utilizing the NYT-VIP, customers can realize an immediate payback on the incremental cost of our hybrid truck, and start to see operational savings on day one!”
Fleets and OEMs believe it is crucial to reduce the incremental cost of a new alternative-fuel vehicle by 80 percent to ensure a successful early adoption of advanced vehicle technologies. NYT-VIP is designed to meet this critical need and aims to kick-start the advancement of low-emission truck and bus technologies.
