GreenPath Logistics (GPL) announced it has completed the first controlled fleet trial with the Hypertruck ERX powertrain.
Manufactured by Hyliion, the Hypertruck ERX is an electric powertrain that is recharged by an onboard natural gas generator for Class 8 commercial trucks, according to GPL's news release.
GPL deployed a demonstration vehicle equipped with the Hypertruck ERX powertrain in its operations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and across Texas to gain real-time feedback on the operational performance of the vehicle. The vehicle’s deployment provided delivery services from U.S. mail deliveries to full-load deliveries.
Earlier this year, GPL placed an order for 50 Hypertruck ERX units backed by deposits. Production is expected to begin in late 2023, according to GPL. The addition of the Hypertruck ERX powertrain is the next step as GPL said it has been successfully operating 30 of Hyliion’s Class 8 hybrid-electric trucks in its fleet for more than a year.
“We are committed to providing our customers with reliable, cost-effective transportation solutions that help them reduce carbon emissions and meet their sustainability goals,” said Shan Zaidi, president of NGV Global Group, the parent company of GPL. “Hyliion is a valued partner and adding the Hypertruck ERX to our fleet enables us to continue expanding the alternative fuel technologies available to our customers.”
GPL’s current fleet includes about 200 medium- and heavy-duty vehicles that operate on compressed natural gas and renewable natural gas, as well as hybrid-electric trucks.
“Completing our first controlled fleet trial was an important milestone for Hyliion, and I am proud to have partnered with GreenPath Logistics to utilize our Hypertruck ERX demonstration vehicle in their operations to great success," said Thomas Healy, founder/CEO of Hyliion. "As champions of alternative fuel, GPL shares Hyliion’s commitment to sustainability, and I look forward to seeing how our technology can add further value to their customers."

Bobit Business Media surveyed 190 fleet professionals and found that while most fleets are tracking costs, fragmented systems and data gaps are keeping true TCO visibility out of reach. With rising pressure to control spend in an increasingly volatile environment, the gap between what fleets think they know and what the data actually shows is wider than you might expect.
