GM's '15 Tahoe Gets Anti-Theft Tech
The Tahoe, which has consistently showed up on annual stolen-vehicle lists, is getting several security upgrades including a standard steering column lock, robust door lock cylinders and shields, more hidden storage, and non-removable third-row seats.

General Motors Corp. is beefing up the anti-theft features for its redesigned 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Chevrolet Suburban, the automaker has announced.
The Tahoe, which has consistently showed up on annual stolen-vehicle lists, is getting several security upgrades including a standard steering column lock, robust door lock cylinders and shields, more hidden storage, and non-removable third-row seats.
GM will also offer a "theft protection package" with the LT and LTZ trim levels that includes glass-breakage sensors, interior motion sensors, and a tilt sensor that will sound an alarm if the vehicle is lifted off the ground.
The 2015 Tahoe and Suburban will be built at GM's Arlington, Texas, plant. They will arrive at dealerships by April 1. GM also redesigned the Chevrolet Tahoe PPV for law enforcement agencies as a 4WD pursuit-rated vehicle.
In calendar-year 2012, fleets registered 32,610 Tahoes and 20,755 Suburbans. Tahoes were almost evenly split across commercial, government, and rental, while rental operators added 81% of the fleet Suburbans.
