Cargo theft reached unprecedented levels across the U.S. and Canada in 2024, prompting GearTrack and Verisk CargoNet to join forces in an effort to enhance cargo protection and recovery. The partnership brings 24/7 cargo recovery support, real-time intelligence, and risk mitigation tools to select GearTrack customers.
Through this collaboration, GearTrack customers will gain access to Verisk’s theft and fraud risk management tools, including customized safety action plans tailored to specific routes. The partnership integrates Verisk CargoNet’s RouteScore API, a risk-scoring algorithm that helps determine the best IoT security solutions based on cargo risk levels.
A key element of the partnership is the launch of the GearTrack Cargo Security Index, powered by Verisk CargoNet. The monthly report, expected to debut in spring 2025, will provide comprehensive cargo theft analytics, including heatmaps, emerging risk trends, and actionable intelligence for shippers, manufacturers, and logistics providers.
“By incorporating our extensive theft data with GearTrack’s innovative tracking solutions, we’re turning analytics into actionable intelligence for our shared clients,” said Ryan Shepherd, general manager of Verisk CargoNet. “This collaboration empowers shippers to make informed decisions in real-time and provides law enforcement with precise data during theft incidents.”
GearTrack customers will also receive training on enhanced route risk scoring tools and gain access to Verisk CargoNet’s quarterly and annual theft analysis reports, as well as cargo theft prevention education.
The first edition of the GearTrack Cargo Security Index will be available on GearTrack’s website upon launch. Check out the latest issue as of June 2025!
