WASHINGTON -– Ford Motor Co. is recalling 352 2011 model-year F-650 and F-750 trucks that were manufactured from Dec. 3, 2010 through Dec. 20, 2011 and equipped with Bendix ATR-6 antilock traction relay valves.
In extremely cold weather conditions, the Bendix relay valves run the risk of developing internal leakage that can lead to air pressure being delivered to primary or secondary brakes, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. This condition can potentially lead to continuous brake application or brake overheating, posing the risks of fire or loss of vehicle control. Also, the brakes may be applied without illuminating the brake lights, failing to give ample warning to other drivers on the road.
