Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling an estimated 660,000 2013-2017 Ram 3500 pickups, 2014-2017 Ram 2500 pickups, and 3500 chassis cabs for a loose nut that can potentially cause a loss of steering control, reports the Detroit News.

FCA said an internal investigation discovered the problem, and the automaker is aware of eight crashes and one injury that could be related to the issue.

To fix the problem, dealers will inspect a steering linkage nut. If it is properly tightened it will be welded to a sleeve to keep it firmly in place. If it is loose, a steering assembly will be replaced.

FCA is also recalling approximately 194,000 2019 Ram 1500 pickups with adjustable brake pedals because the brake pedals can fall off. Specifically, if drivers move the pedals to their rear-most position, the brake pedal can detach, increasing the likelihood of a crash.

More than one-third of these vehicles are still at dealer locations and will be fixed before they're delivered. The 2019 Ram Classic is not affected.

To date, FCA is unaware of any crashes or injuries associated with this issue.

To fix the problem, dealers will install a fastener and spacer to restrict travel of the pedals. FCA also urges drivers not to adjust the pedals until the problem is fixed and never to adjust pedals while driving.

FCA has not said when owners will be notified about either recall. Owners can contact FCA customer service at (800) 853-1403.
