GALESBURG, MI Eaton Corporation has aligned with the California Hybrid Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) to assist California-based fleets wanting to purchase low-emissions, fuel-efficient medium- and heavy-duty hybrid vehicles. These hybrid vehicles will result in a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, lower fuel costs and reduce the use of petroleum-based products.

The Hybrid Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project is a program to help speed the introduction of hybrid trucks with financial incentives ranging from $10,000 to $45,000 for eligible vehicles. Some 87 bus and truck chassis configurations from a variety of vehicle manufacturers are equipped with Eaton hybrid systems and eligible for the incentives.

“The Hybrid Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project off-sets about half of the incremental cost of eligible hybrid vehicles,” said Gerard Devito, engineering director, Eaton hybrid power systems. “The program strongly benefits the public and commercial truck industry by helping interested fleets save money while delivering more sustainable transportation.”

Devito noted that the program is simple for fleets and dealers to use because the incentives are pre-set for each qualified vehicle. Additional information is available at www.californiahvip.com.

“We applaud the state of California for its pioneering work and many investments to promote and support the use of hybrid vehicles and other clean technology vehicles,” added Devito.

Eaton hybrid power systems have collectively accumulated more than 300 million miles of service, reducing fuel consumption by more than eight million gallons of diesel fuel and C02 emissions by more than 80,000 metric tons. More than 6,000 of Eaton’s hybrid systems are in use today on city buses, school buses, package delivery trucks, beverage delivery trucks, refrigerated delivery trucks, refuse and recycling trucks, utility vehicles and other commercial applications.

Are You Tracking Your Fleet's True Total Cost of Ownership?

Bobit Business Media surveyed 190 fleet professionals and found that while most fleets are tracking costs, fragmented systems and data gaps are keeping true TCO visibility out of reach. With rising pressure to control spend in an increasingly volatile environment, the gap between what fleets think they know and what the data actually shows is wider than you might expect. See how your peers are managing costs today and where the industry still has room to improve.
