Do You Need to Worry About a Snowplow Driver Shortage?
Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Oregon, Missouri, and Colorado are each looking to hire more than 100 people as snowplow operators.

Ohio, along with at least 10 other states, is facing a critical setback: a shortage in snowplow drivers.

AccuWeather recently reported that six states are short 100 or more drivers to clear interstates and highways.
According to AccuWeather, 11 states, all of which typically have snow coating the streets during the winter months -- are all seeing staff shortages when it comes to snowplow drivers this season. The states are Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Oregon, Missouri, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Rhode Island, and Wyoming.
In addition, six of these states -- Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Oregon, Missouri, and Colorado -- are each looking to hire more than 100 people for the job.
The report noted that, in Colorado, the states Department of Transportation is seeing a shortage of 18% to 19% of its snowplow operators. The Ohio DOT has more than 190 positions open.
Additionally, AccuWeather shared that a shortage in winter tires is also making an impact.
