C.R. England & Mobileye Announce 1,000th Installation of Vision-Based Driver-Assistance Technology in Trucking Fleet
LOS ANGELES - Global vision-based analytics pioneer Mobileye, Inc., and refrigerated trucking leader C.R. England announced the installation of the 1,000th AWS-4000 driving-assist product in C.R. England's fleet.
LOS ANGELES - Global vision-based analytics pioneer Mobileye, Inc., and refrigerated trucking leader C.R. England announced the installation of the 1,000th AWS-4000 driving-assist product in C.R. England's fleet.
Announcement of the landmark installation comes less than a year after C.R. England selected Mobileye to install the technology in its entire fleet of more than 3,500 trucks. Each installed unit includes Lane Departure Warning (LDW), a Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and headway monitoring and warning (HMW) technology.
Mobileye provides the only driver safety solution offering the three essential accident-prevention warnings in one unit. Mobileye utilizes a smart camera located on the front windshield inside the vehicle, combined with its patented advanced vision technologies to detect and measure the distance to vehicles and to lane markings, providing the driver with timely alerts.
Mobileye's Forward Collision Warning functionality assists in preventing collisions with vehicles ahead by alerting drivers to both moving and stationary vehicles. The Lane Departure Warning feature monitors the vehicle position in the lane and alerts the driver of any unintended lane departures.
Maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead is a task drivers tend to underestimate, resulting in accidents caused by insufficient braking distance. Mobileye's Headway Monitoring function calculates the distance from the vehicle ahead, providing the driver with both audio and visual headway data.
"Since the inception of our company, we've made an unwavering commitment to the safety of our drivers and to those with whom they share the nation's roadways," said Thom Pronk, vice president of training and safety, C. R. England. "Our decision to partner with Mobileye further illustrates that commitment. Accordingly, this 1,000th installation marks a truly significant day in C.R. England's history, and our dedication to on-road safety continues."
Skip Kinford, chief executive officer, Mobileye, Inc., affirmed Mr. Pronk's observations. "The revolutionary nature of our technologies provides C.R. England's drivers with an otherwise unprecedented level of safety and accident-avoidance capabilities," he stated. "We look forward to furthering this relationship and continuing to establish similar ones with other national and regional fleets."
