Black Book picked several popular pickup trucks from the 1940s to early 1970s and analyzed their valuations at recent collectible auctions.

The 1956 Ford Big Window Pickup was originally valued at $1,611, and today is valued at an estimated $65,000 at auction, a 4,034% increase in valuation over that time. Currently, the highest valued truck on the list is the 1973 Toyota Land Cruiser, valued today at $75,000, a 2,370% increase since original value.

“We love our trucks today because of the versatility, functionality, and even technological features included in many of today’s popular models,” said Eric Lawrence, director of specialty products at Black Book. “These trucks of yesteryear were pioneers of their time when trucks had a different meaning on the roads but still offer the right amount of nostalgia that makes them extremely valuable today.”

Black Book attends wholesale vehicle and specialty vehicle auctions around the country each day and week, recording and publishing valuations in real time for a variety of automotive professionals.
