PRINCETON, NJ - ALK Technologies updated the software and digital map data for PC*MILER Navigator, the No. 1 selling, easy-to-use, portable navigation device for owner operators leased operators, and company drivers.

Powered by ALK's CoPilot, PC*MILER Navigator is an all-in-one device with a built-in GPS receiver, speaker, and a color touch-screen that displays directions simply and speaks street names clearly. The navigation software and map data are pre-installed. All a driver has to do is turn it on and put it to work.

PC*MILER Navigator is based on PC*MILER 23, the industry-standard for truck-specific routing, mileage and mapping. It is the choice of the U.S. Department of Defense and 94% of the largest North American motor carriers and global logistics companies.

The new PC*MILER Navigator update encompasses 117,000 new North American truck restrictions including significant updates to Canadian dangerous goods restrictions. The enhanced digital map data includes:

  • 47,000 miles of new and updated truck-restricted roadway

  • 32,600 North American hazardous materials restrictions, more than twice the coverage of other solutions

  • 12,500 new weight allowances nationwide

The newly updated PC*MILER Navigator map data includes 2.9 million commercial truck restrictions, such as bridge heights, clearances and load limits. Weight limits and allowances, one-way designations, left-hand and dangerous turn restrictions, urban road classifications, as well as truck-restricted, truck-designated and truck-prohibited roads are also included for the U.S. and Canada. It is the most comprehensive and accurate truck-specific digital map data available.

"PC*MILER Navigator is the best-selling truck GPS system in 2009. It is currently available nationwide throughout the truck stop retail channel," said Dan Titus, vice president, Business Development, ALK Technologies. "I expect our PC*MILER Navigator channel partners to have continued success as they expand their product line to include three new models at very aggressive price points."

Transplant GPS, a Minneapolis-based GPS electronics manufacturer and distributor, is offering new editions of PC*MILER Navigator-branded, all-in-one devices - the 440, 540, and 740 models, each with progressively larger displays.

All three of the new PC*MILER Navigator models provide identical functionality and use the same updated software and map data, which comes pre-loaded with the unit. The PC*MILER Navigator 440 model features a 4.3-inch screen at a SRP (Suggested Retail Price) of $299, PC*MILER Navigator 540 features a 5-inch screen at a SRP of $399, and PC*MILER Navigator 740 features a 7-inch screen at a SRP of $499. The choice of display size and external GPS antenna option greatly expands the placement options within the truck cab to suit an individual driver's preferences.

Users of PC*MILER Navigator 430, the original model, may order a preloaded Map Data Update memory card for their unit by calling (507) 226-0042 or e-mailing pcmhwsupport@alk.com.

PC*MILER Navigator solutions are available at all major truck stop retailers throughout the United States and Canada as well as via various online resellers. For more information, visit www.pcmnav.com.
