Air Bag Defect Halts Sale of Colorado, Canyon Pickups
General Motors tells its dealers they must fix the problem before selling any more 2015-MY Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks. A formal safety recall is imminent.

General Motors has informed its dealers that a safety recall covering 2015 model-year Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks is pending, and sales of these vehicles must be halted until their air bag software can be updated, Automotive News reports.
GM notified its dealers about the development on Thursday, Oct. 2. Until the problem is fixed, a manufacturing flaw might compromise performance of the driver’s-side air bag in the event of a crash. The defect disrupts the truck’s two-stage air bag deployment sequence.
GM indicated to dealers that a software patch for the air bag sensing and diagnostic module will become available in just a few days, according to Automotive News.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is aware of the safety recall plans and remedy to address the manufacturing flaw.
Customer sales of these 2015 mid-size pickup trucks began just a couple weeks ago. Most of the trucks are still at the manufacturing plant, in transit or on dealer lots.
