Giant Food improved on the goal of electrifying its 128-vehicle fleet with the deployment of two Motiv-powered step vans

The Motiv vans have been on the road for a few months handling daily customer deliveries in various Giant routes in District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware.

Motiv’s founder and CTO, Jim Castelaz, joined Giant’s Doug Duvall and Maryland Lt Governor Boyd K. Rutherford, and other officials for Giant's launch of its first all-electric delivery vehicles.

"Cleaner transportation is part of Giant's larger sustainability efforts and commitment to supporting the local environment," said Joe Urban, VP of distribution operations at Giant Food. "We are excited to bring these vehicles into our Giant Delivers fleet and kick off the transition to all-electric delivery."

Giant's Motiv-powered delivery trucks are based on Motiv's EPIC5 step van and built in partnership with Utilimaster. Funding was provided by the Maryland Energy Administration's Clean Fuels Incentive Program.
