Team Fletcher Takes 2nd Overall at the Corporate Soap Box Derby

Team Fletcher came to Akron ready to race. We left with a win over Team Brown, a second-place overall finish, and a pretty good argument that rookies can make a little noise at Derby Downs.

Lauren Fletcher officially took down Team Brown in the Bobit Business Media Corporate Soap Box Derby challenge before advancing through the field and racing all the way to the final. There, Team Fletcher faced an experienced returning racer who had been down the hill a few times before. He ultimately took the win, but not without having to work for it.

For a first-time racer, second place overall felt pretty darn incredible.

But the biggest win of the Corporate Soap Box Derby did not come from a finish line.

Together, Team Fletcher and Team Brown raised $22,000 for The Hourglass Foundation, helping support scholarships and opportunities that connect people with careers in the skilled trades and automotive industry. The fundraising effort was a major part of why Bobit Business Media returned to Derby Downs, combining a little friendly competition with a much bigger purpose.

And we are not finished yet.
