HOUSTON- Shell Lubricants continues to meet today's transportation needs with the introduction of Shell Rotella T3 NG Energized Protection oil for use in compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) fueled engines. Shell Rotella T3 NG oil uses a customized combination of high performance additives to adapt and protect under the range of pressures and temperatures found in CNG/LNG fueled engines.

Many local fleets, municipalities and public transit companies are using natural gas-powered vehicles because of their lower emissions.  In addition, a number of truck manufacturers are now making natural gas fueled engines a factory option.

"Shell Lubricants continues to take a leadership role to provide the necessary lubricants required today and in the future," said Mark Reed, Global Brand Manager, Shell Rotella. "The addition of Shell Rotella T3 NG oil to the portfolio of Shell Rotella Energized Protection heavy duty engine oils provides additional strength to our product line-up, which includes conventional, synthetic blend and full synthetic diesel engine oils."

Shell Rotella T3 NG SAE 15W-40 oil is suitable for applications such as buses and trucks fitted with engines designed to run on 100 percent CNG or LNG, particularly those preferring relatively low-ash formulations. Shell Rotella T3 NG is suitable for use in Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Mahindra and Hyundai CNG/LNG engines.

Shell Rotella T3 NG engine oil helps to provide:

  • Optimized balance of detergents and dispersants that promotes good piston and engine cleanliness, to promote long and efficient engine operation.

  • Ignition system protection through reduced levels of "ash" containing additives, which control deposit formation in the combustion chamber.

  • Demonstrated wear protection of liners, rings, bearings and valve train components for long engine life.

No matter how hot, cold, steep, dusty, muddy or extended the driving conditions, the Energized Protection of all Shell Rotella heavy-duty engine oils provide protection in three critical areas:
