This year, Work Truck is including a new Medium-Duty Upfit Package category in its annual Upfit Package of the Year Awards, sponsored by LEGEND and to be presented during NTEA Work Truck Week 2027. The entry period is now open.

Entries are now being accepted for the Upfit Package of the Year awards, which now includes a new category for Medium-Duty Upfit Package.
Work Truck
Work Truck is now accepting entries for the 2027 Upfit Package of the Year awards, which, for the first time, will feature a category for the Medium-Duty Truck Upfit Package of the Year.
The Medium-Duty Truck of the Year award was started in 2008, and now, to complement that, Work Truck will be looking for the best upfit packages for medium-duty trucks.
“Medium-duty trucks have been the missing piece in our Upfit Package of the Year awards. Each year, we have grown this award into something even bigger that recognizes the upfitters who take a vehicle from normal to workable, see a vision or need from a fleet, and make it happen in ways we never would have imagined,” said Lauren Fletcher, vice president of content at Bobit Business Media. “
The Call for Entries for the Fourth Annual Work Truck Upfit Package of the Year is now underway, and the categories include:
- Van Upfit Package of the Year
- SUV Upfit Package of the Year
- Light-Duty Truck Upfit Package of the Year
- Medium-Duty Truck Upfit Package of the Year
Ready to enter? Submit your upfit package here: https://forms.office.com/r/FyDELDDxnw
Nominations will be accepted through Sept. 20, 2026, with voting by fleet professionals in the fall, and the announcement of the top three finalists in each category in January.
The awards, sponsored by LEGEND, will be presented on the show floor during NTEA Work Truck Week 2027 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
“I am excited to see these nominations come in and recognize all segments of commercial fleet upfits, from vans and SUVs to light- and now medium-duty trucks. Submit your nominations today!” Fletcher added.
Upfit Package of the Year Frequently Asked Questions
- Does my upfit package have to be custom? No. Off-the-shelf packages are absolutely eligible. What we're looking for are solutions that deliver real value to commercial fleets. If your package is being used by a real-world fleet, we'd like to see it.
- What if we partnered with another company? That's perfectly fine. Many successful upfit packages result from collaboration. Simply identify all participating companies when submitting your entry.
- Can I submit more than one package? Yes. Each company may submit up to four different upfit packages.
- Can I enter the same package in multiple categories? No. Each package should be entered in the category that best represents the primary vehicle it was designed for.
- Do I need to be the vehicle manufacturer? No. Upfitters, distributors, manufacturers, and solution providers are all welcome to submit eligible packages.
- What kind of photos should I submit? One to three high-resolution, print-quality images that clearly showcase the upfit package. Photos installed on a working fleet vehicle are highly encouraged.
- What are voters looking for? Work Truck readers and commercial fleet professionals vote for upfit packages that solve real operational challenges. The strongest entries clearly explain how the package improves productivity, safety, organization, efficiency, or overall fleet performance.
- What if I'm not sure whether my package qualifies? Reach out before submitting. We're happy to answer questions and help determine whether your package is a good fit for the awards.
