Why the Upfit Package of the Year Awards Matter

The best upfits do far more than add equipment to a vehicle. They solve problems. They improve productivity, enhance safety, maximize cargo space, and help fleets get more out of every truck, van, and SUV in their operation.

These awards celebrate the companies and teams developing innovative solutions that make commercial fleets more productive, efficient, and successful. Finalists and winners are selected through voting by Work Truck readers and commercial fleet professionals, making these awards a true reflection of the products delivering value in the field today.

Category winners will be recognized during Work Truck Week 2027.

2027 Upfit Package Award Categories

Entries are now being accepted in four categories:

  • Van Upfit Package of the Year
  • SUV Upfit Package of the Year
  • Light-Duty Truck Upfit Package of the Year
  • NEW: Medium-Duty Truck Upfit Package of the Year

What Do Upfitters Need to Submit?

Your upfit package must be used in a real-world commercial fleet application in the United States. Each company may submit up to four different upfit packages (we HIGHLY recommend submitting in different categories so you are not "competing" with yourself).

Each submission should include:

  • Upfit Package Name
  • Description: What problem does your package solve? Explain the operational benefits and what makes it unique.
  • Photos: One to three high-resolution, print-quality images that clearly showcase the upfit package. If you don't have images ready yet, we'll follow up with eligible entrants.
  • Award Category: Van, SUV, Light-Duty Truck, or Medium-Duty Truck.
  • Why It Deserves to Win: Tell us why your package stands out and how it helps commercial fleets succeed.

A Tip for Stronger Entries

Don't just tell us what your upfit includes, tell us what problem it solves! The strongest submissions explain how the package saves time, improves safety, reduces costs, increases productivity, or makes life easier for fleet operators. Help fleet managers understand why your solution deserves their vote.

While entries remain open through September 30, the best submissions often take time to prepare. We encourage companies to submit early.

Submit your entry today: https://forms.office.com/r/FyDELDDxnw

Frequently Asked Upfit of the Year Award Questions

Q: Does my upfit package have to be custom?
A: Not at all. Off-the-shelf packages are absolutely eligible. What we're really looking for are solutions that deliver real value to commercial fleets. If your package is being used by a real-world fleet, we want to see it. (But note, we have found custom packages to do very well in voting!)

Q: What if we partnered with another company on the upfit?
A: That's perfectly fine. Many great upfit solutions are the result of collaboration. Simply list all of the companies involved in the project when you submit your entry.

Q: Can I submit more than one package?
A: Yes. Each company may submit up to four different upfit packages (one for each category). If you have solutions that fit multiple vehicle categories, we encourage you to showcase the breadth of your offerings.

Q: Can the same package be entered in more than one category?
A: No. Each package should be entered in the single category that best represents the primary vehicle it was designed for.

Q: Do I need to be (or can I be) a vehicle manufacturer?
A: No. These awards recognize the upfit package itself and the companies behind it. We are looking to celebrate upfitters, who are all welcome to submit eligible packages.

Q: What kind of photos should I submit?
A: Include one to three high-resolution, print-quality images that clearly show the upfit package. Photos of the package installed on a working fleet vehicle are highly encouraged.

Q: What are the judges looking for?
A: Our judges are our Work Truck readers and commercial fleet professionals. They will vote for the packages that best solve real operational challenges. Focus on how your upfit improves productivity, safety, organization, efficiency, or overall fleet performance. Tell us not just what your package includes, but what problem it solves for fleets.

Q: What if I'm not sure whether my package qualifies?
A: Reach out. We're happy to answer questions before you submit and help determine whether your package is a good fit for the awards. Contact Lauren.Fletcher@bobit.com.
