Iowa Utility Adding Electric Trucks
MidAmerican Energy Company will add eight electrified trucks to the fleet by the end of the year, the company announced Oct. 30.
MidAmerican Energy Company will add eight electrified trucks to the fleet by the end of the year, the company announced Oct. 30.
It will be the first time MidAmerican Energy has used electric vehicles. The utility is based in Des Moines, Iowa and serves almost two-thirds of Iowa, as well as portions of Illinois, South Dakota, and Nebraska.
“MidAmerican Energy is committed to the core principal of environmental respect and to using resources wisely, and to reduce our impact on our environment," said Ruth Comer, the utility's media relations manager, in a video posted to the utility's Facebook page. "And these trucks are going to help us do this this year."
The company eventually plans to replace all 100 of their current trucks with the green models, fleet manager Brian Knights told Radio Iowa.
