ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Indiana legislature adjourned for the 2007 session without taking action on a wheel tax proposal that could have reached up to $60 per vehicle.
ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Indiana legislature adjourned for the 2007 session without taking action on a wheel tax proposal that could have reached up to $60 per vehicle, according to the Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA).
The proposal required the passage of legislation authorizing the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority to enact the new tax in several counties, including Porter County and Lake County to help pay for a new commuter rail line. TRALA expressed its opposition to the proposed tax directly to Speaker Pat Bauer of the Indiana House of Representatives.
