SANTA MONICA, CA – Top officials in California will head to Long Beach Feb. 26–28 to spend three days at the Faster Freight – Cleaner Air 2007 conference, which will focus on finding solutions to clean up California’s ports and related goods movement activities. Labor union and community representatives from local areas where residents are impacted daily by the congestion and pollution from the ports will also attend to make sure that their voices are heard by both industry and government decision-makers.
Rounding out the list of goods movement industry leaders, several government officials have pledged to take a role in creating an action plan at the conference. The list of featured speakers includes Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles, Mayor Bob Foster of Long Beach, Wayne Nastri of the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, Dr. Robert Sawyer of the California Air Resources Board, and Dr. William Burke of the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
