Work Truck’s Ford Super Duty Fleet Guide covers 2027 pickup configurations, powertrains, payload, towing, technology, and model-year updates.
Ford | Work Truck
The Ford Super Duty is Ford’s heavy-duty truck family, with pickup configurations for fleets hauling equipment, pulling trailers, transporting crews, and supporting vocational operations. The F-250, F-350, and F-450 offer different combinations of payload, trailering capability, cab space, and rear-wheel configuration.
This Work Truck Fleet Guide focuses on Super Duty pickups. Ford also offers Super Duty chassis cabs for commercial bodies and specialized upfits, but those vehicles have separate specifications and ratings.
Work Truck will continue updating this page as new specifications, pricing, fleet ordering information, and model-year details become available. The tables below summarize the current 2027 pickup information, with configuration requirements identified where they affect capability.

Ford
What Changed for the 2027 Ford Super Duty
For 2027, Ford expands factory off-road equipment availability and adds long-bed Tremor configurations. Its current product information also identifies the 7.3L gas V-8 as standard on F-250 and F-350 pickups and the 6.7L High-Output diesel as standard on F-450 pickups.
The updates give fleets additional choices when matching a pickup to unpaved access roads, equipment hauling, and crew transportation. Package availability still depends on cab, wheelbase, drivetrain, and other equipment.
Ford and Carhartt also unveiled a new 2027 Super Duty package with work-ready upgrades, Duck Canvas-inspired interiors, and jobsite-focused durability.
Tremor Expands to XL
The Tremor Off-Road Package becomes available on XL with the STX Appearance Package. Ford’s current product page also specifies the XL Driver Assist Package and approximately 160-inch wheelbase for this combination.
Tremor equipment includes:
- 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires on 18-inch wheels.
- Electronic-locking rear differential and limited-slip front differential.
- Tremor-tuned suspension with a factory lift.
- Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist, and Rock Crawl Mode.
- Skid plates, water-fording vent tubes, and Tremor graphics.
Tremor Adds a Crew Cab Long Box
For the first time, Tremor is available with a Crew Cab and 8-foot bed. Ford lists this approximately 176-inch-wheelbase configuration on XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum, with a 48-gallon fuel tank.
For fleets, the configuration combines the longer pickup box with factory off-road equipment. Its payload and towing ratings must be checked against the Tremor-specific entries in Ford’s charts.
New XL Off Road 35 Inch Tire Package
The new XL Off-Road 35-Inch Tire Package is available on XL Crew Cab 4x4 SRW short-box pickups with an approximately 160-inch wheelbase. The package uses an unbranded exterior without additional package decals.
Equipment includes:
- 35-inch off-road tires on 18-inch wheels and a matching full-size spare.
- Increased factory ride height and performance shocks.
- Electronic-locking rear differential and limited-slip front differential.
- Trail Control, Trail Turn Assist, and Rock Crawl Mode.
- Transfer-case and fuel-tank skid plates.
- Compatibility with the available Ford Performance 12,000-pound Warn winch.
Appearance Packages and Chassis Cab Updates
Ford also lists a limited-edition Proud to Honor appearance package for F-250, F-350, and F-450 models across XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum trims. It includes red, white, and blue graphics, dark exterior accents, and black wheels.
Separately, Platinum trim expands to F-350, F-450, and F-550 chassis cabs with leather seating surfaces and SYNC 4. That change applies to chassis cabs rather than the pickup configurations covered by this guide.
2027 Ford Super Duty Engines and Powertrains
Ford's 2027 specifications identify a 7.3L gasoline V-8 and a 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke turbo-diesel V-8. Engine selection changes output, fuel requirements, vehicle weight, and the available payload and towing combinations.
Engine | Horsepower | Torque | Recommended Fuel |
|---|---|---|---|
7.3L Gas V-8 | 420 hp at 5,350 rpm | 445 lb.-ft. at 4,250 rpm | 87-octane gasoline; not E85 compatible |
6.7L High-Output Power Stroke V-8 Turbo Diesel | 500 hp at 2,600 rpm | 1,200 lb.-ft. at 1,600 rpm | Ultra-low-sulfur diesel; B20 compatible |
7.3L Gas V8
The 7.3L engine uses a cast-iron block, aluminum cylinder heads, and sequential electronic fuel injection. Its naturally aspirated design produces peak torque at 4,250 rpm.
The highest listed gas payload is 7,900 pounds on an F-350 DRW Regular Cab 4x2 with the Gas Heavy-Duty Payload Package. That rating is specific to the equipment combination and does not describe every gas-powered F-350.
6.7L High Output Power Stroke Diesel
The 6.7L High-Output diesel uses a compacted-graphite-iron block, aluminum cylinder heads, high-pressure common-rail injection, and a variable-geometry turbocharger. Peak torque arrives at 1,600 rpm.
Ford's charts list diesel payload ratings up to 6,935 pounds on the F-350 DRW. The highest gooseneck towing rating belongs to a separately configured F-450, illustrating why engine output alone does not determine truck capability.
Ten Speed Automatic Transmissions
Ford lists TorqShift-G and TorqShift 10-speed automatic transmissions with selectable drive modes. Ford's transmission specifications also identify driver-side live-drive power-takeoff access.
Fleets planning powered equipment should confirm transmission and PTO compatibility for the exact truck and installation. Transmission specification, equipment clearance, and operating requirements belong in the upfit discussion before an order is finalized.
2027 Ford Super Duty Configurations
Super Duty pickups offer Regular Cab, SuperCab, and Crew Cab configurations, with availability depending on model and equipment. Regular Cab seats up to three, while SuperCab and Crew Cab configurations seat up to six when equipped with the appropriate seating layout.
Cab and Bed Combination | Approximate Wheelbase |
|---|---|
Regular Cab with 8-ft. bed | 142 in. |
SuperCab with 6-ft. 9-in. bed | 148 in. |
SuperCab with 8-ft. bed | 164 in. |
Crew Cab with 6-ft. 9-in. bed | 160 in. |
Crew Cab with 8-ft. bed | 176 in. |
Wheelbases are rounded to the nearest whole inch. Configuration availability varies by model, trim, and rear-wheel configuration.
Fuel Tank Capacity
Fuel capacity varies with engine, cab, and wheelbase. Fuel tank capacities include the following:
Configuration | 7.3L Gas | 6.7L High-Output Diesel |
|---|---|---|
Regular Cab, approximately 142-in. wheelbase | 34 gallons | 29 gallons |
SuperCab, approximately 148-in. wheelbase | Not confirmed. | 29 gallons |
SuperCab, approximately 164-in. wheelbase | 34 gallons | 34 gallons |
Crew Cab, approximately 160-in. wheelbase | 34 gallons | 34 gallons |
Crew Cab, approximately 176-in. wheelbase | 48 gallons | 48 gallons |

2027 Ford Super Duty Models and Trims
Ford lists XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum across the F-250, F-350, and F-450 pickup lineup. Cab and equipment availability varies within those models.
XL and XLT provide starting points for fleets comparing work-focused configurations. The ordering decision should account for required driver-assistance systems, towing equipment, seating, and vocational packages alongside trim.
Payload Towing and Weight
Ford's payload tables show ratings from 2,415 to 7,900 pounds across listed configurations. Cab, engine, drivetrain, tires, GVWR package, and rear-wheel configuration all affect the result.
The following ranges summarize entries in those tables, including package-specific configurations. They are not a guarantee of the carrying capacity of an individual truck.
Payload and GVWR Ranges
Model and Engine | Listed GVWR Range | Listed Payload Range |
|---|---|---|
F-250 SRW, 7.3L gas | 10,000–10,600 lbs. | 3,196–4,175 lbs. |
F-250 SRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 10,000–11,400 lbs. | 2,415–3,918 lbs. |
F-350 SRW, 7.3L gas | 10,100–11,900 lbs. | 3,652–4,857 lbs. |
F-350 SRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 10,600–12,400 lbs. | 3,682–4,843 lbs. |
F-350 DRW, 7.3L gas | 14,000 lbs. | 6,528–7,900 lbs. |
F-350 DRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 14,000 lbs. | 5,850–6,935 lbs. |
F-450 DRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 14,000 lbs. | 5,303–6,482 lbs. |
The F-350 gas maximum requires the Gas Heavy-Duty Payload Package. The F-450’s 6,482-pound maximum in Ford's payload table requires the High-Capacity Gooseneck Tow Package.
Installed toolboxes, racks, auxiliary equipment, passengers, and cargo affect remaining carrying capacity. Fleets should use the specific truck’s labels and account for the completed upfit when determining how much load it can carry.
Conventional Towing Ranges
Model and Engine | Listed Conventional Trailer Rating Range |
|---|---|
F-250 SRW, 7.3L gas | 16,300–18,200 lbs. |
F-250 SRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 15,500–22,000 lbs. |
F-350 SRW, 7.3L gas | 17,700–19,500 lbs. |
F-350 SRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 18,200–25,000 lbs. |
F-350 DRW, 7.3L gas | 17,800–22,000 lbs. |
F-350 DRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 24,800–28,000 lbs. |
F-450 DRW, 6.7L HO diesel | 18,200–30,000 lbs. |
These ranges include specialized configurations. For example, the F-450’s lowest listed conventional rating is attached to a configuration equipped for maximum gooseneck towing; it does not mean that all F-450 pickups share that conventional limit.
Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Towing
Fifth-wheel and gooseneck towing have separate ratings. Ford’s detailed pickup towing guide lists the following maximums by model and rear-wheel configuration.
Model | Maximum Fifth-Wheel Towing | Maximum Gooseneck Towing |
|---|---|---|
F-250 SRW | 22,100 lbs. | 23,000 lbs. |
F-350 SRW | 27,400 lbs. | 27,600 lbs. |
F-350 DRW | 35,000 lbs. | 38,000 lbs. |
F-450 DRW | 35,000 lbs. | 40,000 lbs. |
The F-450’s 40,000-pound gooseneck maximum requires the applicable Regular Cab 4x2 configuration, 6.7L High-Output diesel, 4.30 axle ratio, and High-Capacity Gooseneck Tow Package. Ford lists a 48,000-pound GCWR for that combination.
Trailer tongue or pin weight also counts toward the truck’s load. Fleets must stay within the truck’s applicable GVWR, axle ratings, GCWR, and hitch limits when adding passengers, equipment, and a loaded trailer.
Axles and Drivetrain
Ford's towing charts list axle ratios of 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, and 4.30 across the pickup family. Availability depends on engine, model, and equipment; electronic-locking axle entries are identified separately in the charts.
The F-250 High-Capacity Axle Upgrade Package is required for the higher diesel ratings identified in Ford’s tables. Tires and off-road packages also change ratings on certain F-350 SRW configurations, so an axle ratio should not be treated as a stand-alone guarantee of towing capacity.
Fleet and Work Related Features
Super Duty’s work-related equipment includes available 2-kW Pro Power Onboard, bed-access steps, and towing mirrors. Ford also lists Ford Pro Telematics on applicable models.
For vocational fleets, the ordering process should connect these features to the actual job. Tool storage, auxiliary equipment, trailer use, crew size, and access conditions can all change the configuration that makes sense.
Factory Off Road Equipment
The expanded Tremor and XL off-road offerings provide additional factory configurations for fleets that regularly leave pavement. The packages combine traction hardware, suspension changes, underbody protection, and driver aids, with equipment varying by package.
Fleets should also consider how increased ride height affects equipment access and trailer clearance. A package’s towing and payload entries should be checked before assuming it retains the ratings of another truck with the same engine and cab.
Fuel Capacity and Equipment Planning
The 48-gallon tank is listed on long-wheelbase Crew Cab configurations in Ford's capacities table. Shorter-wheelbase configurations use smaller tanks, with capacity also depending on engine.
Equipment planning should include both physical fit and weight. A pickup may have enough bed space for the proposed equipment while leaving less carrying capacity than the operation requires.
Towing Technology
Available towing features include an integrated trailer brake controller, Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, trailer reverse guidance, and Onboard Scales with Smart Hitch. Availability varies by model and package.
These systems can support hitching, maneuvering, and load estimation. They do not increase the truck’s published weight ratings or replace verification of the actual loaded combination.

Super Duty interior equipment varies by trim and package. Fleets can compare displays, controls, seating, and available technology when specifying trucks for their drivers.
Ford
2027 Ford Super Duty Technology Fit for Fleets
Ford lists SYNC 4 displays, available 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and Pre-Collision Assist with automatic emergency braking. Exact standard and optional equipment varies by trim.
For fleets, consistent driver-assistance equipment and familiar controls can be part of the specification process. Connected-service subscriptions and feature availability should be confirmed for the vehicles being ordered.
2027 Ford Super Duty Pricing Ordering and Availability
Pricing depends on model, cab, engine, drivetrain, trim, and optional equipment. Fleets should obtain a current configuration-specific quote that identifies destination charges, vocational equipment, and any applicable fleet terms.
Ford’s current site provides 2027 configuration and inventory tools. Fleet order-bank timing, allocation, production scheduling, and delivery estimates should be confirmed through Ford Pro or the supplying dealer before a replacement schedule is finalized.
Warranty Coverage
Coverage | Coverage Term |
|---|---|
Bumper-to-Bumper | 3 years / 36,000 miles |
Gas Powertrain | 5 years / 60,000 miles |
Diesel Engine Coverage | 5 years / 100,000 miles |
Safety Restraint System | 5 years / 60,000 miles |
Corrosion Perforation | 5 years / unlimited miles |
Roadside Assistance | 5 years / 60,000 miles |
Time and mileage limits generally apply on a whichever-comes-first basis where both are listed. Fleets should review Ford’s warranty booklet for covered components, exclusions, and application-specific terms rather than assume diesel engine coverage extends to every powertrain component.

Cab, engine, axle ratio, and towing equipment affect Super Duty trailering capability. Fleets should match the specific truck’s ratings to the loaded trailer and equipment.
