In a tribute to its history, Goodyear has partnered with nonprofit organization The Well CDC to restore the iconic Goodyear sign that overlooks the former headquarters, now Goodyear Hall, in Akron's Middlebury neighborhood.
The Goodyear sign, a well-known symbol of the company's ties to Akron, has been revitalized after being inactive for almost a decade. The restoration comes in celebration of Goodyear's 125th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in the company's longstanding relationship with the community.
Goodyear Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer, Laura Duda, noted, "This project reflects Goodyear's ongoing commitment to invest in Akron and the neighborhoods that have been part of our history for 125 years. We're grateful for partners like The Well CDC who share in this commitment."
The historic Goodyear sign has served as both a Goodyear and Akron icon and symbolizes the company’s roots in the Middlebury neighborhood in Akron.

Zac Kohl, Executive Director of The Well CDC, emphasized the collaboration's impact, stating, "Partnering with Goodyear to restore this iconic Akron landmark symbolizes our dedication to community improvement. The sign stands as a representation of the value of investing in our community's future."
Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan expressed the sign's significance, saying, "The Goodyear sign is synonymous with Akron. Seeing it illuminated again in honor of Goodyear's commitment to our city is a special moment."
