How Will FedEx’s Delivery Operations Go Carbon Neutral by 2040?
At the 2022 Fleet Forward Conference, Bill Cawein of FedEx Express will dive into the company’s global plans to decarbonize and share learnings from the rollout of the first 150 BrightDrop electric delivery vehicles.

In June, FedEx Corp. announced it has received its first 150 electric Zevo 600 models from BrightDrop. The electric delivery vehicles are deployed in Southern California.

FedEx has set an ambitious agenda to have a carbon-neutral pickup and delivery (PUD) operation by 2040. How will the world’s largest transportation and logistics company get there?
At the 2022 Fleet Forward Conference, Bill Cawein, global technology & integration manager at FedEx Express, will outline the company’s global plans to decarbonize through fleeting zero tailpipe emissions vehicles (ZEV) and other strategies.
In the conference’s second-day keynote, titled “Think Big, Act Bigger: Parsing FedEx’s 2040 ZEV Strategy,” Cawein will also outline how FedEx is incorporating PUD electric vehicles and charging infrastructure at scale, including deploying the first 150 electric delivery vehicles from BrightDrop across Southern California.

Cawein will also explain how realizing the company’s goal will demand collaboration — across the public, non-profit, and corporate sectors.
“We’re excited to hear from Bill firsthand, as he oversees the strategy and implementation of FedEx’s next-gen technology for a global fleet that consists of over 78,000 vehicles,” said Chris Brown, conference chair. “FedEx’s plans are a key component of the larger industry roadmap to decarbonization.”
The seminar takes place Thursday, Nov. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.
This year, the Fleet Forward Conference will convene with the Fleet Safety Conference on Nov. 9-11 in Santa Clara, California. Attendees will pay one registration fee to access both events.
