At Work Truck Week 2026, we caught up with Dave Sowers of Ram Professional to talk about one of the biggest surprises from the show: the return of the Ram ProMaster City. After the small and mid-size van segments were left without options, Ram is bringing back a solution designed specifically for commercial customers.

And this time, it’s been reworked based on real-world feedback. The new ProMaster City delivers:

  • 2,170 pounds of payload

  • Nine feet of cargo space to fit 4x8 materials

  • A height under seven feet for parking garage access

  • Tight maneuverability with a turning radius similar to the previous smaller van

In short, it’s built to haul what you need and go where you need, without stepping up to a full-size van. Ram also highlighted a broader shift back toward commercial customers, including:

  • A 10-year/100,000-mile warranty

  • More flexible option packages, so fleets don’t overbuy features

  • Continued focus on total cost of ownership and real-world usability

The message is clear: this van fills a gap that’s been sitting in the market for years, and fleets have been waiting for it.
