Alcoa has expanded its M-Series aluminum wheel lineup to include vans such as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Ford Transit, as well as General Motors' 3500/4500 vehicles.
The M-Series models provides the same benefits that Alcoa’s forged aluminum wheels provide to Classes 7-8 customers, and are customized to fit vehicles in Classes 2-6.
The single-piece forged aluminum construction provides a running wheel that offers a smooth ride, extends tire life and lowers operational costs. At nearly half the weight of a steel wheel, M-Series wheels improve fuel economy, reduce carbon emissions and are recyclable.
The Sprinter 3500 wheel measures 16.5-inches by 6 inches and weighs 21 pounds.
Two new Ford Transit wheels include the Transit 16.5-by-6.5-inch single and 16.5-by-6-inch dual wheel. The single configuration wheel weighs 21 pounds, while the dual configuration wheel comes in at 18 pounds.
The wheel for the GM 3500/4500 dual chassis measures 16.5-by-6 inches. This medium-duty wheel weighs 19 pounds.
Alcoa introduced the wheels at the Work Truck Show. They will be available for order on March 15.
