Meet 3M’s next Innovation: Simplification. 3M is making masking tape simple.At the beginning of April, 3M announced its solution to a confusing marketplace full of masking tape products that often look the same, but are used for very different applications. Building on its tradition of innovative thinking, the company launched a new industrial line-up of five “go to” masking tapes, entitled “Masking Made Simple,” with products ranging from 101+ to 501+ engineered to perform in the majority of industrial masking applications, and designed to simply help customers choose the right level of performance for their jobs.

The new 3M Masking Made Simple lineup includes 3M High Performance Green Masking Tape 401+, the preferred choice among industrial painters who demand results. This industrial-strength professional masking tape is ideal for high performance painting, including two-tone color application onto trucks, buses, trailers, trains, fire trucks, ambulances and airplanes. Its high-strength green crepe-paper backing conforms to irregular surfaces, resists bleed through from most industrial paint systems, improves visibility during the paint masking process, and offers super sharp paint lines.  It withstands temperatures of up to 250F for 30 minutes, and can be used indoors and outdoors for up to three days.  The 3M proprietary solvent-free adhesive sticks with confidence to most surfaces – including metal, rubber, glass and plastic – and removes cleanly in one piece.  As a bonus to customers, 401+ is offered in both bulk and individually wrapped roll packaging options, so growing industrial customers can buy the right number of masking tape rolls they need for the job.

3M’s Masking Made Simple line of industrial masking tapes is designed to help customers choose the right level of performance, so they can finish jobs worth finishing. The line of new tape includes 3M™ Value Masking Tape 101+, 3M™ General Use Masking Tape 201+, 3M ™ Performance Yellow Masking Tape 301+, 3M™ High Performance Green Masking Tape 401+ and 3M™ Specialty High Temperature Masking Tape 501+.
