Who made the cut for the Top 5 Medium-Duty Trucks in 2026?
Since 2008, Work Truck’s Medium-Duty Truck of the Year award has recognized the medium-duty models that best deliver for vocational fleets where it matters most: real-world capability, reliability, quality, upfit friendliness, ease of service, and total cost of ownership.
In 2021, we introduced our Top 5 Medium-Duty Trucks list as a way to spotlight the standout contenders each year. And yep, we’re keeping that tradition rolling into 2026.
Who Made the Top 5 Medium-Duty Trucks List for 2026?
The Top 5 Medium-Duty Trucks for 2026 (in alphabetical order) are:
Ford F-Series Medium-Duty Commercial Trucks
Freightliner M2 106 Plus
Isuzu NRR EV
Peterbilt Model 537
Ram Chassis Cab
Now in its 18th year, the Medium-Duty Truck of the Year award invites manufacturers to nominate their top trucks for consideration. The winner is selected by professional fleet managers, who vote based on the stuff fleets actually live with day to day:
Performance on the job
Dependability
Overall build quality
Maintainability
Repair experience
The full cost picture over the life of the truck
This year’s finalists represent a wide range of fleet needs, from work-ready commercial staples to new options that reflect evolving powertrain strategies. Different missions, different priorities, same goal: trucks that earn their keep.
Where (and When) Will the Winner Be Revealed?
The Medium-Duty Truck of the Year 2026 winner will be announced at Work Truck Week 2026 in Indianapolis. We can't give away the location without giving away the winner, but keep your eyes peeled for our team if you are on the show floor, and we'll be announcing the winner here right away, so make sure you are subscribed to our newsletter!
