Mullen Automotive announced the achievement of a key commercial EV milestone with its all-electric Class 1 cargo van.
The Mullen ONE received certification from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) as a zero-emission vehicle in California.
The certification is awarded to vehicle manufacturers who meet specific emissions standards in compliance with CARB regulations. To date, 15 states and the District of Columbia follow CARB regulations.
Mullen ONE Secures Full U.S. Sales Approval
The Mullen ONE obtained an Environmental Protection Agency certificate of conformity on November 2, 2023, enabling its sale in most U.S. states.
While California and 14 other states, along with the District of Columbia, adhere to vehicle standards outlined in Section 177 of the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. §7507), necessitating additional approvals beyond EPA regulations, Mullen has secured credentials from both CARB and the EPA.
As a result, the Mullen ONE is now authorized for sale in every state across the United States.
Moreover, this certification renders the Mullen ONE eligible for essential state electric vehicle (EV) incentive programs.
The significance of CARB's certification is heightened by the recent implementation of the Advanced Clean Truck regulation, mandating that all local delivery and government fleets achieve zero emissions by 2036.
Consequently, the Mullen ONE can participate in cash incentive programs available in CARB-compliant states, each with varying incentives.
“The CARB certification is an important milestone for Mullen as sales in the CARB-compliant states represent over two-thirds of all EVs sold in the U.S.,” said David Michery, CEO and chairman of Mullen Automotive. “As a next step, we are working to ensure the Mullen ONE is also part of all eligible state incentive programs to further support the sale and adoption of the Mullen ONE across the U.S.”
