Luverne, an American manufacturer of truck, commercial van, and SUV accessories since 1963, celebrated this 4th of July with 55 years of American manufacturing.
Luverne was founded by Bud Heck, Forest Jennings, and “Doc” Martin in Luverne, Minn., 20 miles from Sioux Falls, S.D. The company's first product was a heavy-duty, painted steel bumper designed for pickup trucks in agricultural settings.
In the 1970s, the company's warehouse footprint and distribution network began to expand to Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Montana, and Utah. At this time, heavy-duty grille guards and running boards were added to the product line.
In the 1980s, Luverne moved to its new manufacturing facility in Brandon, S.D.: a 206,000-square-foot, eight-acre campus.
In the 1990s, the success of its auto and truck specialty line gained momentum. The company focused its product development efforts with more attention to style, adding tubular grille guards and nerf bars in 1996 and side entry steps in 1998.
In 2016, Luverne joined the Wisconsin-based CURT Group family of brands. Today, Luverne is nationally known and respected as it continues to uphold the value of American-made.
