Although diesel prices started 2026 lower than a year ago, the downward price trend has reversed. This week, prices increased nationally and in every region. The national average price of a gallon of on-highway diesel was $3.62 as reported Jan. 27.

Yet, that is still 3.5 cents cheaper than a year ago.
