Hyundai and Kia Motors may introduce diesel-fueled vehicles in the U.S. to meet stricter fuel efficiency regulations, a senior official with the automakers told Ward's Automotive.
The companies have begun to "see some value in diesels," said John Juriga, a director of powertrain for Hyundai/Kia America Technical Center. Juriga told the outlet that Hyundai considered developing a diesel powertrain 4-5 years ago and backed away due to increased costs and the higher price of diesel fuel.
