BrightDrop is now part of General Motors. This partnership is aimed at helping their fleet customers by providing them with an efficient single point of contact through GM Envolve.
BrightDrop originated in GM's Innovation Lab and has spent the past three years wholly-owned subsidiary, allowing it to operate with the agility and innovation typical of a tech startup while benefiting from GM's extensive manufacturing expertise.
During this period, BrightDrop has developed a product portfolio that aids customers such as FedEx, Ryder, and DHL in decarbonizing their fleet operations.
The dedicated team at BrightDrop also achieved the remarkable feat of bringing an electric delivery van to market in record time.
GM's BrightDrop Fully Integrated for an EV Future
GM remains committed to scaling production of the BrightDrop Zevo, which is set to resume in the spring of 2024.
This effort will be supported by the launch of CAMI's new battery-module plant in Canada, providing the necessary capacity to fully support Zevo production at CAMI and supplement electric vehicle production at other GM plants.
Looking ahead, BrightDrop's electric delivery vans, including the Zevo 600 and Zevo 400, will continue to be integral components of GM Envolve's commercial fleet offerings.
Furthermore, GM is consolidating all commercial digital solutions, including BrightDrop Core, into GM's software and services organization.
The full integration of BrightDrop into GM marks the beginning of a new chapter, reaffirming our commitment to building toward an electric vehicle future that benefits everyone.
