Ford F-Series announced that it would surpass 640,000 trucks in 2022, making it America’s best-selling truck for 46 consecutive years and America’s best-selling vehicle for 41 years. According to Ford, this equates to selling an average of at least one F-Series Truck every 49 seconds in 2022.

In March 2022, the automaker announced the milestone production of the 40-millionth Ford F-Series truck after hitting 26-million trucks sold just five years earlier. And in August, the news was looking good for Ford, with the announcement that total pickup truck sales, including F-Series, Ranger, and Maverick, were up 26.3% compared to the year prior

Truck fleets have been a big part of this sales success. Work Truck reached out to Ford for some additional background:

"For over 75 years we've been relentless in delivering the most innovative, capable and dependable truck lineup to industries that move our country forward,” said Tim Baughman general manager, Ford Pro. "Ford F-Series trucks are trusted workhorses to get the job done and connected, mobile offices of the future for businesses of all shapes and sizes. Jam-packed with state-of-the-art technology, and now supported by a powerful ecosystem of productivity-boosting software and services through Ford Pro, our trucks go beyond the job to helping businesses and their bottom lines, thrive. We’re proud to be America’s best-selling truck for 46 consecutive years and with the customer at our center, we are determined to build that leadership for years to come."

From F-150 to F-550 chassis cab, entry-level XL to Limited, EcoBoost to the all-electric F-150 Lightning, lined bumper to bumper, Ford noted that all of the Ford F-Series trucks sold last year would stretch approximately 2,400 miles, or further than the driving distance from Los Angeles to Detroit.

“The Ford truck team’s ability to anticipate customer needs, continuously innovate, and provide best-in-class levels of capability and performance has helped make F-Series the sales leader time and time again,” said Kumar Galhotra, president, Ford Blue. “We’re honored and humbled our customers have helped us achieve this milestone for more than four decades.”

F-Series celebrates its 75th anniversary this year and continues to set the tone for innovation and lead the industry with the all-electric F-150 Lightning, which began sales in 2022 and immediately became the best-selling EV pickup on the market. Furthermore, the all-new F-Series Super Duty has racked up 150,000 orders, cementing F-Series as the truck of choice for heavy-duty truck buyers. First deliveries start early this year.

With Maverick, Ranger, F-150, Super Duty, all the way up to F-750, Ford offers America’s broadest lineup of trucks to best deliver on customers' needs and is the only one that is Built Ford Tough.

Additionally, Ford knows minimizing costs and maximizing productivity is every fleet manager’s goal. With the development of data services, telematics, and mobile servicing, attaining that goal is easier than ever. Ford also announced the addition of commercial insurance options for Ford Pro customers, check it out!
