Epic Septic & Service, a veteran-owned septic, grit, and grease trap service company based in Austin, Texas, has selected the Mack MD Series as the backbone of its rapidly expanding fleet.
The company, which aims to revolutionize the septic industry through military-grade precision and bold branding, plans to deploy 100 Mack MD6 diesel trucks during the next three to five years.
Founded by brothers-in-law Kyle Voss, a Marine Corps captain and former professional football player, and Chad Riddersen, a marketing entrepreneur, Epic Septic is bringing innovation to an essential industry.
“Our trucks are the business, as they’re our single biggest revenue driver,” Voss said. “We chose Mack because of the perfect balance of power, durability, and drivability. The reliability is crucial when your entire operation depends on keeping trucks on the road.”
The Mack MD Series delivers the maneuverability and visibility required for demanding urban applications while providing the legendary durability Mack is known for, Mack Trucks said.
With a tight turning radius for navigating congested city streets, a sloped hood design that allows drivers to see pedestrians directly in front of the vehicle, and a passenger door peep window for safer lane changes and right turns, the MD Series is suited for septic and waste management operations in metropolitan areas like Austin.
The recently refreshed MD now features a cabin that’s 4 inches longer, providing drivers with enhanced comfort through increased legroom and seat recline.
“The Mack MD is purpose-built for vocational applications that demand both toughness and agility,” said Alex Lee, Mack senior product manager of vocational and medium duty. “Epic Septic’s innovative approach to the industry, combined with the MD’s efficiency, performance and low maintenance requirements, creates an ideal partnership for their ambitious growth plans. The MD model’s heavy-duty components and updated, larger interior ensure drivers can handle demanding routes comfortably while maintaining the uptime their businesses require.”
The company’s distinctive army-green Mack MD trucks, inspired by Voss’s military background, have already become popular on social media. Epic Septic will be featured on the cover of Pumper magazine’s February 2026 trade show issue, prominently featuring their Mack MD6 model.
Pioneering Sustainable Operations
Epic Septic is exploring the use of higher biodiesel blends in its Mack MD vehicles to create a circular sustainability model. The company collects grease from restaurant grease traps, which amounts to about half of its business, and then converts it into biodiesel to fuel its fleet.
“We’re in the health and wellness business, keeping viruses and bacteria out of drinking water,” Riddersen said. “Running our trucks on biodiesel created from the grease we collect reduces our carbon footprint and demonstrates our commitment to environmental responsibility.”
Scaling Through Franchise Program
As part of its expansion strategy, Epic Septic has launched the Epic Operator Franchise program, which provides talented individuals with trucks to enter the septic industry. This initiative reduces the significant capital barrier to entry while helping the company scale operations across Texas and beyond.
The company, currently in the process of establishing a franchise model, has set an ambitious goal to become the first national septic brand in the U.S.
Both the MD6 (GVWR: 25,995 pounds) and MD7 (GVWR: 33,000 pounds) models provide optimal capacity and payload, and are exempt from the 12% Federal Excise Tax, providing additional value for Epic Septic’s owner-operators.
“Every component of our business reflects our Epic Standard: showing up on time, bringing expert craftsmanship, and doing what's right by our customers,” Voss said. “Mack’s American-made trucks, with their enhanced safety features including automatic traction control and premium driver amenities, align perfectly with our values and operational standards.”
All Mack MD trucks are built in the United States at Mack's manufacturing facility in Salem, Virginia.
