MotorTrend crowned the Chevrolet Colorado as the 2024 Truck of the Year. This award marks the third time the mid-size truck has won the award, following previous wins in 2015 and 2016. MotorTrend praised Colorado’s contemporary interior, versatile bed, comprehensive features, and exceptional off-road capabilities as critical factors in its victory.

Ed Loh, the head of editorial for MotorTrend Group, said, “The Colorado lineup’s performance both on- and off-road, particularly the ZR2’s prowess, is nothing short of exceptional, rivaling even some of the most revered off-road vehicles available. Earning MotorTrend’s Truck of the Year award is a testament to Colorado’s all-encompassing excellence across various terrains and utility needs.”

What is MotorTrend's Truck of the Year Award?

The Truck of the Year title is one of MotorTrend’s top awards, with the Colorado emerging victorious from a field of 13 models. Eligible trucks were judged on six key criteria: safety, design advancement, and intended function performance.

Scott Bell, VP of Chevrolet, said, “We are thrilled to see Colorado take home the MotorTrend Truck of the Year award. The all-new Colorado boasts elevated performance, capability, and refinement in every respect across every trim offered. This award is a testament to Colorado’s mantra: it’s made for more.”

The Colorado lineup includes Work Truck (WT), LT, Z71, ZR2, and the first-ever Trail Boss model. These models feature three unique chassis stances, optimizing each model’s capabilities. Together, they provide a more varied range of options tailored to how customers use their trucks for work and recreation, including off-roading.

This award marks the third time the mid-size truck has won the award, following previous wins in 2015 and 2016.
