Hellwig Products, a manufacturer of towing, hauling, and performance suspension products, released its new single leaf helper spring and rear sway bar for the 2016-18 Ford Transit. These helper springs and sway bars work in tandem to allow Transit owners to transport and haul heavy loads with improved safety, stability, and comfort by maintaining a level ride height for better overall driver control.

The newly redesigned 2016-18 Ford Transit has exploded onto the fleet scene thanks to its efficient and powerful V-6 engine options, large cargo capacity, and high payload ratings. But despite its high ratings, heavy loads like packages, tools, and other supplies can overly compress the van’s stock rear springs causing it to sit low in the rear, altering the center of gravity, which can negatively affects handling and braking.

Hellwig’s new Helper Spring (Part # 1904) for the Ford Transit features a single leaf helper spring rated for up to 2,500-pounds and will improve handling, safety, and driver control by helping maintain a level ride height on a loaded vehicle, according to the company. The amount of load support can be easily adjusted using the end U-bolts to dial-in the spring rate to match the specific load and to level the vehicle left to right if the load is uneven. A level vehicle puts weight back on the front tires leading to better braking, handling and more even tire wear. These Helper Springs fit both the cutaway chassis and cargo van version of the Transit but do not fit the passenger van models.

To further improve driver control, Hellwig Products offers an upgraded 1 3/8-inch solid rear sway bar. This sway bar is available for single wheel 150, 250 and 350 vans with a factory installed rear sway bar (Part #7759) and 350HD dually vans and cutaway chassis with a factory installed rear sway bar (Part#7766). The upgraded rear sway bar works in conjunction with the front factory sway bar, to minimize body roll, resulting in less weight transfer during cornering and more predictable handling. This bolt-on upgraded bar is forged from 4140 Chromoly steel, heat treated for durability, and features a forged 3-hole adjustable end to allow you to tune the stiffness to match your load and driving style.
